We Are Family (WAF), a registered charity, is an adoption community group providing opportunities for adoptive and prospective adoptive parents to meet and share experiences of parenthood. We strongly believe in and advocate supporting the parent to support the child. We also pride ourselves on being a parent to parent group offering not advice but a shared experience.
Your role will be to drive a series of projects designed to enable us to operate in a more sustainable and effective manner as well as manage central activities and support local groups to deliver services. This will involve leading the delivery of the Group Engagement elements of our operational plan, including developing systems and protocols to ensure effective two-way communication between our Board and local groups. Important will be the ability to act as a key liaison point for advice and practical support to group volunteers.
You will review requirements for more structured administrative or operational support and ensure that robust systems are in place. You will also collaborate with colleagues and partners to identify opportunities to secure additional funds to sustain and build capacity to deliver our charitable aims. You must have management level experience with a not for profit or public sector body as well as expertise in setting up and operating systems and procedures to enable a volunteer-based organisation to run efficiently. As an effective project manager, you will be skilled at prioritising needs, deploying limited resources, setting targets, monitoring progress and producing stakeholder reporting. A good communicator, you will be commercially astute and able to lead people. Knowledge of the adoption sector and safeguarding arrangements (one of the areas we want to review) as well as fundraising would be highly desirable.
WAF is a diverse organisation whose members come from all of the different communities within the London area. We seek to reflect this diversity in our organisation and therefore welcome applications from all candidates regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age or disability.
