Peer Support Groups

Our Peer Support Groups take place regularly, either face to face in comfortable surroundings over a cuppa, or online, in the comfort of your own home.

Parent Groups
These locally run sessions are for adoptive parents (from matching onwards), and provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to to reflect of adoptive parenthood with like-minded parents. We offer support, but not advice.

Single Adopter Groups
The single adopters amongst us have formed their own groups in North London and South London, which meet online and face-to-face. There is a creche available for these groups when meeting in-person.

Prospective Adopters Group
Prospective adopters are advised to join the pan-London group for prospective adopters (from stage 2 onwards).

The sessions are free. In the sessions we adhere to a set of ground rules, which can be found here. Please contact your local WAF groups for more information.

What our members say:

‘I need to come. I need my space to talk!’
“The group is so inclusive. I love how everybody ‘gets it’ !’
‘Sharing really helps me through the rest of the week.’
‘I have found the parent support group to be an extremely supportive, encouraging and ultimately rewarding forum to be involved in. The knowledge and support offered by people in the same situation as us has been invaluable & I am so glad to have discovered it. I have told other adoptive mums about it and can honestly say it is one of the most helpful and supportive resources I have encountered in the whole roller coaster ride of adoption.’
